What reverse osmosis does

A residential reverse osmosis system is usually installed under a kitchen sink and supplies a dedicated faucet. The membrane reduces many dissolved substances in the smaller volume used for drinking, beverages and cooking.

RO is not normally the first tool for treating all household water. Whole house RO requires specialized design, storage, repressurization, waste management and attention to water stability after treatment.
